Spain – Unemployment Coverage

Unemployment Benefit Calculation Basis:

• First 180 days: 70% of the employee’s previous salary

• From day 181 onwards: 60% of the employee’s previous salary

Maximum Unemployment Benefit Amount:

• Without children: € 1,225 per month

• With 1 child: € 1,400 per month

• With 2 or more children: € 1,575 per month

(Maximum period: 24 months)

In certain cases, there is the possibility to capitalize the periodic benefits in order to receive them in a lump sum and start a self-employed activity.

Minimum Unemployment Benefit Amount

• Without children: € 560 per month

• With children: € 749 per month
